AHHH so It’s started! I am currently on my way on the most exciting trip of my life (so far!) I feel like this has been the longest process EVER! And when I say long the whole thing started in August and for someone who is so impatient I’m not going to lie I’m incredibly proud. Small things, right?

So, it was the night before I left and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a…Wait… no that’s not how my last- should’ve been peaceful night went… Chinese with the fam which was lovely, watching Warrington- which was not we lost and I had to watch. But don’t worry my lovelies Warrington’s stellar performance on the pitch wasn’t the highlight of my night, oh no it was checking my flight at about 10ish at night (because I’m a bit of a control freak and I like to know details) and finding out that my flight was CANCELLED. Yep all you lovely readers I’ve not misspelt delayed, cancelled. Marvellous and the alternative flight that the airlines were offering me was on the Sunday, arriving in Miami at 16:10 which I’m not rocket scientist but I guessed I was going to miss the boat.

However, rather calmingly (yes I was as shocked as you that I was I was dealing with this fine) I spent a good twenty minutes on hold to Carnival trying to sort this ordeal out. On the plus side my Carnival trivia is on point. The absolute beaut on the other line understood my predicament and arranged another flight for me. Flying Singapore airlines but at the slightly earlier time of 10am and yes I know it is only half an hour difference but that extra time in bed is crucial.

After over analysing everything, tossing and turning in bed thinking of worst case scenarios (missing my flight, lost luggage, not enough wardrobe space) I finally drifted off into a deep sleep to be awoken by Beyonce telling to me to get into ‘Formation’ Makeup done and packed: check, fabulous outfit (in my opinion) check, heavy as anything hand luggage: check, crying saying goodbye to my dogs (cause I’m a weirdo) Yep you bet I did that! (and to all the people who came to see me and I didn’t cry I apologise it’s not that I think more of my dogs than you but… 😂) After getting to the airport and checking in with a cheeky little upgrade (thanks dad!) it was that time I was dreading saying goodbye to Cath and Mike (mum and dad) spoiler alert I got emotional and cried- not really a big shocker there and getting slightly emotional writing this- if I ever needed validation that my star sign was cancer this is it right now.

Through Passport security (with a priority pass they clearly knew I’m a panicker) Might’ve bought another eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay but if my mum asks I found it in my cabin and I decided to have a sit down order a bacon butty (last bit of proper bacon) and a lemonade at ‘The Cabin’. The man who served called me DJ Sammy which lead me to looking at him like WHAT?! (all I heard was Sammie) and when he told me he liked her music I realised that my wireless headphones were around my neck and that was probably the only female DJ reference he knew. Currently sitting here typing feeling very a là Carrie Bradshaw and I’m getting a few looks like ‘oh is she important?!’ MADE IT!

Can I just say that Singapore Airlines are phenomenal their service is outstanding! Whilst we were boarding they offered out sweets however, being the good catholic girl I am I said no! Hope you’re proud Jesus. Their planes are gorgeous as well and Premium Economy Singapore Airlines is so much better than Premium Economy Virgin. I struck the jackpot as well, the man next to me his entertainment system wasn’t working so he switched seats! BONUS more legroom. The food was outstanding and I know you’re probably reading that in disbelief because airport food and tasty is a juxtaposition but believe me when I say it. I devoured pork in black bean for lunch and for light dinner I had/inhaled oriental seafood noodles and carrot cake which always goes down a treat. I slept most of the way, watched films and TV- Home Again- brilliant, Justice League- fell asleep, Modern Family always hilarious and Murder on the Orient Express- started off brilliantly but I aint going to lie this girl was knackered so fell asleep.

I’M IN TEX-ASS BABY. Houston, I must applaud you on your Visa staff because they were so lovely and friendly. I had a rom-com moment near the escalators where a beaut Canadian bumped into me, said sorry and as he was going down the escalator he turned around and smiled at me. Just call me Sammie Witherspoon. The people working in the airport were so hospitable but I’m not going to lie IT’S SO BIG. Like I landed in Terminal E, I had to haul ass with my two (cursing myself for not packing light) suitcases on the subway- yes my lovely readers this airport was so big it has a subway, to Terminal A (because it’s never the next Terminal) Once I was through passport security again it was time to decide which fast food chain would have the pleasure of my company. Whilst facetiming Dem (you little treasure) we discovered that Chick Fill A (Don’t know if it’s chick-fill-a or chick-fill-ay) didn’t take cash MARVELLOUS. So, no food was consumed but on the plus side I didn’t consume the calories.

Okay so we all know that economy Easy Jet and Ryan Air have very skinny seats, not much legroom and you have to pay for snacks so I was expecting the same on American Airlines but, oh how I was pleasantly surprised. The seats were splendid and the kind airhostess was giving out complimentary pretzels and beverages! THANKS.

Arrived in Miami after 1235437 hours of travelling and I marched faster than Usain Bolt to the baggage carousel (of course mine was the furthest) hoped in a cab and checked into the hotel. I was about ready to collapse watching US Netflix (so much better than UK) eating pork scratchings- because well you know you’re welcome Jesus and I was asleep within the first five minutes. Boom another alarm! With jetlag worsening and I wanted to climb back into that incredibly comfy bed but nope that wasn’t allowed I had to get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

The bus was late which obviously did wonders for my nerves and stress levels but I met two people who I work with and two angels one in photography (Raffaela) and one from Fun Squad (Sharon) Finally arriving at the port and the title of this blog couldn’t be more apt. HOLY SHIP THAT’S A BIG BOAT. Like HONESTLY IT IS HUGE. My first thoughts were it’s big, impressive and slightly intimidating. I mean I’m meant to be working here 😳will I have a tour guide to lead me around? What will happen when I am late for work and I am lost? Will I ever know where the hell I am going? And how the HELL am I going to be able to help lost guests?

My room however, made me wonder how a ship this big could have a room this small… Bigger than what I expected but still my two suitcases might’ve been a slight oversite with the tiny wardrobe but I’ve unpacked put cards up and it’s starting to feel like home.

My first week is over and it’s been a tiring blur. I’m not going to lie it is HARD. However, after being reminded that fraternising with guests is a strict no no (which is unfair because he was cute and Californian!) meeting some fabulous new friends I think I’m starting to get the hang of this…

Miss you both so much

P.S. I’m going to try and Blog as much as possible but with limited internet make sure you subscribe because I might not always be able to promote/inform/annoy people on facey bee, twitter and insta!
